5 Piece Canvas Size Guide

Choosing the right panel width is the most important decision for five-piece canvas. Too small and the set disappears on a wide wall; too large and a phone photo turns soft. This guide explains per-panel sizes, total wall coverage, and how our configurator checks DPI before you order.

Every five-piece set uses five panels of equal width. Total wall coverage equals (panel width × 5) plus small gaps between panels — typically 2 cm each. Our configurator lets you scale from 8" to 30" per panel, enter your wall width in feet with Fit To Your Wall, and warns you if your photo resolution cannot support the size you picked. Start with the chart below, then upload to see your exact DPI in the sidebar.

How to Calculate Total Wall Width

Multiply your chosen panel width by five, then add gap space. With the default 2 cm gap between panels, there are four gaps — roughly 8 cm (3 inches) total. Example: 12" panels → 60" of canvas + ~3" gaps ≈ 63" (5.25 ft) on the wall. Use Fit To Your Wall in the configurator: enter your clear wall width in feet (e.g. 10 ft above the sofa) and we suggest panel widths that fill roughly 85% of that space for balanced side margins.

DPI Rules — When Your Photo Is Big Enough

  • Green DPI in the configurator = sharp at normal viewing distance (8–12 ft).
  • Amber = acceptable for smaller panels or if viewers stand closer — consider reducing panel width.
  • Red = photo cannot support this size — upload a higher-resolution file or choose smaller panels.
  • Photographer exports at 300 DPI for the intended print width are ideal; phone panoramas often work at 10"–14" per panel.
  • Rule of thumb: for 12" panel width, aim for at least 3600 px image width across the full photo (before split).

Common Sizing Mistakes to Avoid

Panels too small for the wall

Eight-inch panels on a 12 ft sofa wall look lost. Measure first — upsizing one step (12" → 14") often transforms the room.

Ignoring DPI warnings

Scaling a WhatsApp-forwarded photo to 20" panels causes softness. Heed the amber/red indicator or upload the original file.

Forgetting side margins

The set should not touch both wall edges. Leave 6–12 inches clear on each side for a professional install.

Wrong aspect ratio photo

Tall portrait photos force heavy side cropping in a five-panel split. Use wide landscape or pick split canvas with 3 panels instead.

Does Frame Type Change Size?

Panel width refers to the printed face size. Gallery wrap adds wrapped edges around the stretcher bar; floater frames add an outer frame dimension but the visible canvas face stays the same. Rolled canvas has no stretcher — you frame locally at your chosen size. Price scales with panel area and frame type; gallery wrap from ₹1,499 is the baseline for 8" panels.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the most popular 5-piece canvas size?

12" per panel (~5 ft total) is the most ordered size for Indian living room sofa walls. 14"–16" per panel is common for wider villa walls.

How do I know if my photo is big enough?

Upload to the configurator and check the DPI indicator. Green means sharp at your chosen panel width. If amber or red, reduce panel size or upload a higher-resolution original.

What does Fit To Your Wall do?

You enter wall width in feet. The configurator suggests panel widths that proportionally fill the space, accounting for five panels and default gap spacing.

Can all five panels be different sizes?

The five-piece product uses equal panel widths for a balanced split. Layout shapes change panel heights (Classic, Diamond, etc.) but not individual widths.

What is the maximum size per panel?

30" per panel, giving roughly 12.5 ft total width — suitable for large reception and lobby walls.

What is the minimum size per panel?

8" per panel (~3.3 ft total) — ideal for bedrooms, hallways, and compact flats.

Do gaps between panels affect total width?

Yes. Default 2 cm gaps add roughly 3 inches total. Wider gaps (3–5 cm) add slightly more — preview in the configurator.

Is there a size guide inside the configurator?

Yes — DPI feedback, Fit To Your Wall, and live preview update as you change panel width. This page is the reference; the tool is the calculator.
